Catholic Worship Online

At the heart of Catholic Worship Online is a desire to rediscover and reclaim the worship of the Church in the expression of music.  The Church has a rich, beautiful, and varied history when it comes to musical worship, but there can often be a lot of disagreement about what “type” of music or worship is “authentically Catholic.” As a community of worship leaders, we hope to come to the deeper understanding that true Catholic worship is not “traditional,” “contemporary,” “charismatic,” or “contemplative.” Rather, it is all of these things and more — authentic Catholic worship, centered on the encounter of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist, defies, combines, and transcends any particular “genre” of worship.

The goal of the Catholic Worship Blog is to bring Catholic musicians and worship leaders together, in order to provide them with quality musical, theological, and spiritual materials to help them grow in their ministries and to give them the opportunity to call one another on to deeper worship and leadership. At the Catholic Worship blog, you will find:

• Instructional video tutorials of songs or techniques
• Podcasts and interviews centered on discussions of understanding and leading worship
• Informative articles and reflections on topics relevant to worship leaders
• Forums where worship leaders can come together to discuss song choices, past experience, and share their encouragement and wisdom with one another.

Tom Lelyo – Founder

Tom’s primary vocation is husband and father to his beautiful wife Natalie and two children, Tommy and Baby #2 (gender to be discovered in August).  He is also a full time youth minister, public speaker, and worship leader in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.  He is the co-founder, frontman, and lead guitarist for the rock worship band, CatholicFX. Tom holds a dual B.A. in Theology and Philosophy, and plans to finish his Master’s Degree in Systematic Theology in July of 2011 from St. Charles Seminary Overbrook.

Tom has worked alongside many well known worship leaders such as: Steve Angrisano, Jesse Manibusan, Martin Doman, JP Kasperowicz, and more!  He has a passion for following Christ through His Church and leading others to encounter Him.

Christ Music

Christ Music is a Catholic Ministry Company founded in 2002 in response to the growing need for a renewal of the heart of the Church. We seek to align ourselves with the late Pope John Paul II’s call for a “New Evangelization”, promoting devotion to the Real Presence of Jesus through the gift of praise & worship and adoration. As children of the renewal in the Church, we rejoice in our rich tradition while singing our Catholic faith in a modern voice; creating an experience of musical worship that is truly timeless. We are musicians, lay ministers, priests, fathers, brothers, mothers and sisters, sharing one goal in common: to share in the eternal song that awaits us in heaven, while bringing life to the Church on earth.

Christ Music is a not for profit, Catholic Ministry Company founded in 2002, whose purpose is to bring about the renewal of Catholic music as a whole, both sacred and devotional.
